Usa Phone Numbers

Cell phones have become the best communication mean for all U.S. visitors. Most of the airlines operating on all U.S. networks are equipped now with GSM technology for international travelers to be able to communicate with foreign networks and those of the U.S. once you arrive there .

Your service should include the GSM system for all telephone calls that were classified under the dual-band, tri-band and quad-band. Tri-and quad-band are recommended for the best reception service all across the U.S.

Before your trip to the USA learn about the service and the network with your telephone company and find out how it would be for you in case you use it once in the USA . It may be that the “smart card” (known as the SIM card) in your phone must be replaced with a newer and compatible. Since SIM cards are not common in the U.S. it would be better to replace it before your departure. It is also advisable to request the roaming rates across the U.S., it can be very expensive!

Telephony
From a public telephone:
- Local calls: 25 cents.
- Long distance calls: Dial 0, you get the operator to whom you give the 3 digit area code followed by the number of your correspondent. The operator will tell you the amount to put into the machine. Make sure you have money.
- To collect call, ask for a “collect call” or notice, a “person to person call.” Call 1-800-225 5288 or 1-800 – CALL-ATT to get a number in France through a French operator (VCP).

In a private phone, in order to call in the USA,  the code for the United States is 1.  Bring then 00 out of your origin country , one for the USA, then the 10 digits of your correspondent. (ex: (222) 333 4444 = 00 1 222 333 4444)

From the USA to call in France for example : The code for France is 33.  So Call 011 for out of USA, 33 from France, then the phone number without the first zero. (ex: 01 44 55 66 77 = 011 33 1 44 55 66 77)

The dual-band phones do not work in the USA. Only tri-band mobile phones work.
