I had a certain problem these days and wanted to find a friend to ask her for some advice. I remembered having both her phone number and address which was a very good thing. I immediately started searching for them and finally did find them in an old address book. I began dialing the number when it suddenly hit a tone and a neutral telephone company voice started telling me ” We are sorry but this number is not valid anymore.”

”Ok…”, I thought to myself, ” no problem, I will just call the info line and have them give me the phone number.” I began dialing the phone number and gave the person that answered to me the address that I had kept in my old address book. And of course, the nice lady at the the other end of the line replied that they don’t seem to find any number listed under this certain name and address. Well, that was that, my friend somehow managed to change her phone number, move away and become unlisted in the phone books. How would I manage to ever find her phone number and address now?

I started thinking about this matter and how serious this can get when you are trying to keep contact with different persons in your life and you finally and surprsinigly find out that you have complete lost track of them.I mean, just think about it a little bit, what can you do when someone you’ve known for years suddenly vanishes from your life in a few instants? It’s probably their fault too because they could have given you a notice. Something like a shout out, kind of like ” hey you, I’m changing my phone number and address, don’t try to call me anymore.” It’s not so nice isn’t it?

On the other hand, if you can get past that the best thing that you can probably do is track down any other common friends and ask for details. Know any of their realtives? Too bad if you don’t. If neither of these two situations can be of help, then try crusinig the web for specialized websites who offer this service of tracking down the persons you are interested in finding. How does this thing work? Normally they try to track them down by name related e-mail and if the searches don’t turn out to have a good result, then they try tracking them down starting from the last known address and so on.
