International Phone Number Lookup

This in my opinion is an issue that should be discussed more often. The problem with international phone number lookup is the fact that it should be made more available on a larger scale. And I mean the problem is really about the people who handle this sort of business and can not find a way to meet the requests of their clients. Because in order to be able to find a certain number from outside your own country there is well, allot of detective work to do. And not only that but also the high expectancy level that comes today due to the very advanced technology and services we have access to. I mean, in times like these you would expect to simply type in a certain word, expression, noun, adjective, a raising problem or question, into your web browser and the results should instantly appear.

I know, it is absolutely impossible to gather up all of the world’s phone numbers into one place but certain progress can be made. Some should have the brilliant idea of indexing countries. As much as possible anyway. That would surely be a start.

But then again, people are too freaked out by the mass work that this type of project implies so they will not even think about getting their fingers stuck into their keyboards. And this is how, I think, progress is slowly (but surely) slowed down until unfortunately ( but I really hope not) one day we will arrive to a complete hault.

The thing with international phone number lookup is that one on side it is quite easy to find and to offer a solution, but on the other hand it is not.

For example, if you do not want to do all the work, just set up a website and have people introduce their phone numbers in stead of you doing so. It will not turn into a very complete list of phone numbers but hey, at least you will start having the idea of such a large scale project and some indexes.

Another solution would be to come to a certain agreement of this type of service with different governments worldwide and to start promoting a sort of international hotline that, for a small fee in return will try to find for you the number that you are looking for even if this means that it’s located in Australia or Egypt.

But, the downside is that it will take allot for people to start seeing things like this. Maybe we would require a whole new generation finally being able to do this thing. Until then, there isn’t much we can do. Just hope. Hope that someone actually has the idea and the will to start such a bold project.
